This interactive video installation is a response to Serena Chopra’s poetry and was developed through conversations about how we both approach gender in our work. The video is displayed on a wall mounted screen within the gallery. On screen the viewer sees floating bottles with images of people and a female character off in the distance. The gallery is depicted as if the viewer is looking in a mirror.
As the viewer appoaches the display screen, a virtual video monitor activates, the figure moves towards the viewer and photographs them. The video is of Serena reciting one of her poems. The on screen character then adds the photoof the viewer to her headpiece. Throughout the day, images of people will accumulate in the bottles on screen and in her headpiece, adding to the burden she carries with her throughout the day.
